Upholstered Headboards

I've been shopping around for upholstered headboards.  At this point in my life, I'm all about ease and budget so here are a couple I am thinking about:

the Lewis Headboard (above) and the Riley Headboard (below) both from PB (I know...not the most original) but I am leaning towards them because they have a simple and classic shape that will never go out of style.  They are also slipcovered and when you have children (and just finished a week where the little one had the stomach flu) the idea of washing the slipcover is attractive.

I go back and forth between the two because I don't know which shape appeals to me more - the rectangular or the camelback.  I like them both.

Ballard's has the Stevenson frame which is sorta like the marriage of the two shapes above.  They offer various fabric options including sunbrella.  The height of the Stevenson is 54" (same as the Lewis above), however the Riley is 62" high!  I taped both silhouettes out with painter's tape and I really like the height of the Riley eventhough we barely have 7 foot ceilings.

So, since we're on the topic, do you have a tried and true favorite when it comes to an upholstered headboard?

  1. Hi Fran! Thanks for your comment. I LOVE the Riley headboard. Our ceilings are about 7 and a half feet upstairs, and I think the headboard looks nice proportionately. I also think the slipcover washes well. The only mistake I made was that I threw it in the dryer after the first time I washed it, intending to only keep it in there for a short time so it wouldn't shrink - but I got distracted and left it in there too long and it dried completely. It shrunk maybe an inch and a half from the bottom - but the top curvy part still fits fine. I think I'm the only one that notices it is too short now. Just don't make the same mistake I did and I think you'll be fine. I am extremely happy with the bed and would definitely buy it again. I can't wait to see which one you go with! They are all good choices.

  2. I haven't purchased one myself but last week I saw that World Market had a few upholstered headboards. Also saw a random one at Marshall's and then again at Tuesday morning.

  3. We'll be in the market for a headboard as well and I haven't done much research at all yet. I do like these PB options though and that they are classic shapes AND slipcovered.
