Do you remember the "Kooboo" chair from World Market?

Wasn't that such a great deal at $129.99?!   Fast forward two years, I am now considering kubu chairs for our breakfast eat-in-kitchen.  Unfortunately, World Market has discontinued their kubu chairs.

Kubu rattan is considered a very sturdy and hard material which has a natural 'gray' finish.  I recently found a similar option on Overstock - Safavieh Banten Kubu Soft Gray Rattan Club.

It is VERY similar to WM's Kooboo chair except for the cost - $258.99.  I ended up ordering two of them to see how it would look in my eat-in-kitchen.  I want to use them as 'hostess' chairs when we have guests over.

Once again, please IGNORE paint color on my walls.  I have the new color picked out, but we haven't painted it yet.  So, I really, really like the warmth the rattan adds.  The picture doesn't do it justice, but every time I walked in the kitchen and saw the chairs, it made me happy.

I called my girlfriend to come over and see the chair because she too is looking for new chairs for her breakfast area.   She really liked the chair (as well) and we played around with some fabric choices for her kitchen.

A great outdoor fabric - Calico's inoteca (especially if you have children)!

I love the above fabric in the smaller pattern.  It reminds me a bit of the below fabric which I would love to use  - Petite Fleur in lake blue by Kerry Joyce.

Good 'ol standby, KWID imperial trellis (see below).  I actually think the seat cushion should be done in a solid white and then use the KWID fabric as a throw pillow in the chair.  That way you can use the pillow in more than one place if you wanted too (get more bang for your money)!

At the end of the day, this Safavieh is a great option if you're in love with the "Kooboo" chair from WM. I'm still on the fence as to whether I am going to keep it (as I am considering other options).

But, I am in love with the kubu material!!  It automatically added the texture and warmth that my kitchen space needed!

  1. I love these chairs. I had pinned something similar to this and I'm wondering if it was this Safavieh Overstock chair because they look very familiar. Mmm...I might need to consider these for our dining area. Decisions, decisions.

  3. I can't believe WM has already discontinued that chair! Seems like it just came out and it's certainly still current! I hate it when they do stuff like that! :-( On a more positive note, I'm glad you found the Safavieh chairs. They're great looking!

  4. I love them and am considering the same set for my house. It looks like you have a cushion that you're testing the fabrics with. Would you mind sharing where you found one to fit? I'm having a hard time tracking one down online. Thank you!

    1. Hi Melissa, it is an old outdoor/indoor cushion I bought from ballard designs years ago. Sorry I don't have any more specifics. Hope that helps!

  7. This image depicts a modern office space in Dubai, elegantly adorned with high-quality curtains that enhance both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the workspace. The office exudes a professional and inviting atmosphere, characterized by contemporary design elements and thoughtful decor.

    Key Elements:
    Office Curtains:

Design and Fabric: The office curtains are made from a sleek, light-filtering fabric in a neutral beige tone. The material has a subtle texture that adds depth and sophistication to the space without overwhelming it. The curtains are full-length, extending from the ceiling to the floor, ensuring complete coverage and a polished look.
Functionality: These curtains are designed to control the amount of natural light entering the office. They can be easily adjusted to either diffuse the harsh Dubai sunlight or allow for more illumination as needed, providing an optimal working environment throughout the day.
Installation: The curtains are hung on minimalist, matte black curtain rods that blend seamlessly with the office decor. The installation is precise, with the curtains draping perfectly to avoid any gaps or unevenness.
    Office Layout:

Furniture: The office features modern, ergonomic furniture, including sleek desks, comfortable office chairs, and a stylish conference table. The furniture's clean lines and neutral colors complement the curtains, creating a cohesive design scheme.
Lighting: In addition to natural light filtered through the curtains, the office is illuminated by a combination of recessed ceiling lights and stylish floor lamps. The lighting setup ensures a well-lit workspace even when the curtains are fully drawn.
Decor: The office is decorated with tasteful art pieces, indoor plants, and a few personal touches that add character without cluttering the space. These elements work harmoniously with the curtains to create a professional yet welcoming environment.
    Overall Impression:
The image captures the essence of a well-designed office in Dubai, where functionality meets style. The office curtains are a key feature, providing essential light control and privacy while enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the workspace. This thoughtfully decorated office exemplifies how high-quality curtains can significantly contribute to a productive and pleasant working environment.
