Slugging It Out in Louisville

If you hadn't noticed, I've been away for quite awhile.  For the last two months plus, we have been in nonstop hurry-up mode.  We were rushing to get our home ready for sale and then, ultimately, under contract. Then, of course, there were the numerous (and non-negligible) inspection repairs.  All the while I was on my own with the kids in CT packing and getting ready to move, as my husband had to start his job in early September.  If it sounds like I am whining...I am! :)  Anyway, we finally closed on our CT house and made our way down to Louisville about a week and half ago.  I am so happy to have our family back together and to be in our new town.
And, I am quickly falling in love with Louisville.  The people here are so laid back and extremely nice and pleasant.  We're currently renting a house in the Cherokee Triangle district, which is this charming area with late Victorian houses.  It's the perfect amount of urban - without being too much.

Luke likes his new school and we are enjoying learning more about our new town.  We are under contract (inspection today) so if all goes well, we can expect to be in our new house right before Thanksgiving.  In the meantime, I've been scouting out antique shops and been having a blast dreaming up various decorating schemes!  Since we're in somewhat of a normal routine, I hope to be back a little more frequently.  I have missed blog-land!!

  1. Right before Thanksgiving? That would be so wonderful! I hope that all goes well with your inspection and closing process, and I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the discovery experience in a new city.

I can't wait to see your soon-to-be home!

  2. Yay! So glad to hear from you and what's going on. So exciting about the new house - I know you'll have it whipped into shape in no time!

And welcome to the South! I've actually never been to Louisville (I think you're about 4 hours north of Nashville) but I've heard it's a wonderful city! Congrats on your move and getting settled in!

  4. A fellow blogger raves about the Goss Antigue Mall (http://www.gossantiques.com/) and Yesternook (http://www.yelp.com/biz/yesternook-louisville). I stumbled upon this great shop on Frankfort Avenue this summer and I love it - The Urban Farmhouse Market. There are so many places that I'm sure I don't even know about. I live down the road in Lexington, though, so I'm not there to scout out very frequently. Glad you're getting settled in and enjoying Louisville. Be sure to check out some of the great local restaurants! :)

    1. Hi Danielle: Thanks so much for the tips! I have heard of Goss Antique Mall, but not Yesternook or the Urban Farmhouse Mkt. My son's school is actually on Frankfort Ave. so I will absolutely need to check that out!! Really enjoying Louisville, the restaurants and the weather! :)

  7. We were in Louisville for the Derby. If you haven't eaten at The Village Anchor - go check it out. Great brunch menu with specialty Bloody Mary's and red velvet pancakes. Yum!

  9. So glad you are making your way back to the blog. How ironic that you are now living in the south. I contacted you awhile ago when you moved into your house in West Hartford. At the time we thought my husband was getting a job there. This summer he was offered a better job in Austin, Texas. I still want to live on the east coast one day but we are really loving Austin. Great food, good weather and there really is nothing like southern hospitality!
