Get ready...here we go again!

The past couple of months have been a whirlwind for us, as my husband got a job offer.  So we're forging ahead on this exciting new path.  Yes, we are moving again!  And, this time we are moving to a part of the US that I am less familiar with (being that I from the east coast), but I am very excited about it because I just keep hearing great things!  Hello Louisville, Kentucky!

This all happened so quickly, so much so, that I haven't had much time to process it.  We've already been down to Louisville for one house hunting trip and we leave next week for another trip, with the hope to find a house!

our current home

We put our current house on the market (insert sad face) and we got and accepted a bid in just two days (insert happy face - thank you God)!  And, while I am very excited, I must admit I have mixed emotions about leaving this house, our neighborhood, our friends and New England.

BUT, moving to Louisville, KY will provide us with many opportunities and we are looking forward to embracing them with open arms!

one of the homes we hope to see while in Louisville.  Don't you love the porch??

We don't have much time to find a house and I am nervous about picking the 'right' area/neighborhood for our family.  We want to be in Jefferson county because of the proximity to Louisville.  I really like the Indian Hills area.  The houses are pricey, but beautiful and I like the fact that it boasts older homes with charm.  It also doesn't seem to have the typical planned community (i.e., sub-division) feel.  But, if any of you are familiar with Louisville, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

So, a lot has been happening.  My heart is full with love and gratitude given all that God has provided.  I look forward to starting this next chapter and making Louisville, KY our new home.

  2. How exciting! I'm a KY girl (Lexington) and am somewhat familiar with Louisville - primarily the great food scene! Indian Hills is awesome, as is Cherokee Park. You'll definitely find some old charm in both areas. Best of luck to you! I can't wait to see where you end up and maybe we can meet sometime for breakfast once you get settled in :)

  3. My husband grew up in Louisville (and still has family close to there). Of course, this means you'll have to become college basketball fans. State requirement :)

  7. Wow, Fran, I can't believe this news! Talk about a major change! I know some wonderful people in Louisville. If you are interested in a tour guide or need some insider info, let me know. They are super generous and would be happy to meet you and show you around. I wish you well with all of it, but you won't need my wishes--you'll handle it all gracefully. So so exciting. Best of luck to you and your family!

  10. How ironic Fran. I just realized that I had saved your house on my Trulia account because we are coming to West Hartford to look around. I contacted you when you first moved there to ask about the area.

Since then we have moved from Southern Ca to Austin, Texas. We like Austin but are still trying to move east to be near family. LIke you, we have moved multiple times in the last couple years. I'm ready to settle down now though. Moving is exciting but soooo exhausting, right?

I wish you the best of luck in Kentucky, another beautiful part of the country. You will love southern hospitality!

  11. I grew up in Kentucky, and have lived in Louisville for the past 6 years and love it!
Big city with a small town feel...we live in St. Matthews and are able to walk to Seneca/Cherokee park and nearby restaurants. Lots of homes built in the 30's-50's - that can be fixed up. This is how I came across your blog, through pinterest DIY house projects. The Highlands is also a great area filled with beautiful homes. I think you will be happy with Indian HIlls - another great location! Welcome to KY!

  14. I am a native Kentuckian and went to college in Louisville. In fact, we lived there many years after college and now live in Lexington (after stints in FL and MO). I have always loved Old Louisville and the Highlands. You really cannot go wrong with either of those areas especially if you're looking for charm. Good luck!
