Our trip back from Europe was, well, challenging (airlines lost reservations - twice; kids didn't sleep, etc.). Once we arrived, we left the kids with family in Michigan and drove to CT for a three day house hunting trip. Coming up empty, we went back for round two. This house hunting process was completely exhausting, but we finally found a house that we absolutely love and we are now under contract! What a relief. We've had the inspection, negotiated repairs and are just now waiting for the assessment to finalize our loan. We're supposed to close in late August.
In the meantime, I've been in full swing mommy mode taking the kids to swimming and tennis lessons, boating on the lake, fishing, celebrating my father in law's 85th birthday and my mother in law's 84th birthday, attending to E's never-ending desire to get into everything and now trying to schedule a short vacation to Saugatuck, MI. And, then there is all the moving stuff - organizing movers, schools, buying another car, etc. Never a dull moment!

The up side is that I can now start working on decorating ideas for our new house! I am really excited! In fact, I'm slated to go to shopping with my sister-in-law next week to do start hunting for various items, especially rugs. I'll be sure to share pictures of the new house and any of my finds in the coming days!!
I hope you all are having a great summer! It's flying by. My little ones are keeping me SOOO busy....let me tell you! I couldn't resist but post a couple of pics!! :)

Wow, what a whirlwind! Glad you're back and can't wait to follow you on your house-decorating journey - how exciting!
ReplyDeleteHey Fran, I'm also returning from a long hiatus. You have a much better excuse than I, though! I can't believe you've said good-bye to Europe and are back in the States. That's a lot to manage with a family of four. I just read your post about the house and though you took down the previous post, I still CANNOT wait to see pictures! Fingers crossed it becomes yours. Sounds like you really love it -- and are grateful to have it.

Welcome back, Fran, and I'm so glad you enjoyed your summer as much as possible amidst the craziness of moving/traveling/house hunting. I finally am getting back into the swing myself...discovered sometimes you just have to take time out/away to live and not just write about it!
