I am always impressed when I see a high-end designed room created for less. While, I think you can usually tell which is high-end, I'm amazed with the resources available on a low-budget and a person's creativity. Creating a room on a low budget without compromising style is a talent. Check out this room created on both a high and low budget....
No. 1
No. 2
In your opinion, which is the high-end room and why?
To see more high vs. low rooms, go here.
I'm thinking the first one is high end b/c of the turned legs on the table and the additional hardware on the chair. Could be wrong though.
ReplyDeleteI'm also thinking high end for the exact same reason as Rene, both of these items look to have that extra little detail that costs. :) Love this post, fun! Janell
ReplyDeleteNow who doesn't love a good high-low comparison? Both are gorgeous in my book!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts were exactly the same as Rene's. The first table looks more detailed and expensive.

It's awesome that you can still have the "look" even on a budget! That's right up my alley. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI'm saying the first one because of the metal trim on the director's chair. But if you didn't look closely, both look the same.
ReplyDeleteFran, this kind of thing is your specialty. Kind of "getting the look for less" if you will. I love this post and I agree, the first room is the high end room. The desk was the give-away for me. Really great!

i was going to say #2 was higher since the lamp is a bit more interesting looking, but the desk in #1 is so much more detailed that i changed my mind.
ReplyDeleteOne is the high end- the desk and chair gave it away. Much for detail on both. Having said that as a whole look, I think they are very well matched.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is the first is the high end - with the same thoughts as the girls above - more hardware and detail on the chair and table... though the way things are being reproduced these days, who knows?
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool post. I love seeing highs and lows and seeing how some can really replicate so well a luxury look. Of course this is what I try to do in a more general way with my clients ;-) I'm with most everyone else--the furniture gives away room #1 as the high end. But I'm totally impressed with how close room #2 got!
ReplyDeleteThey are both great looks, I think the first is the high end based on my first glance at the lamps. I think I recognize the one in #2 from a big box store. (But who cares, the looks are both great!)
ReplyDeleteLove the hats used as art. Reminds me of that Myra Hoefer house in House Beautiful where she uses mens hats all lined up. Keep posting high/lows! They're a favorite of mine too!

Woah, they look identical. I feel like I am playing that "can you spot the difference" picture games :)
ReplyDeleteThey look almost identical! However, I think No. 1 is the high end room because of the detail on the desk leg and the hardware on the folding chair.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go with No.1 but this one was TOUGH!
ReplyDeleteMelissa
both are amazing. i think number one may be the high. geeesh... i don't know! great post.
