Gold, White & Gray

I love the color combo gold, white and gray lately and am finding it in various interior settings.

Love this kitchen.  You get the gold from the textured wallpaper, white from the cabinets and gray from the awesome floor, marble and stainless steel appliances.  I also like the pops of green.

Another great example.  Gold from the textured wallpaper and lamp.  White from the wainscoting and gray from the chrome bar cart.  Oh, and do you notice the pop of green!

Another example.  I don't have to spell it out - you get it, right? Pretty awesome.  Notice the pop of green from the wellies!

Anyway, this color-way is the inspiration for our little kitchen nook (corner) that serves as a catch-all for everything!!  Stay tuned!

Color Crush: Grayish Blues & Magenta

Did you ever watch season one of Million Dollar Decorators?  Remember the episode when Mary McDonald turned down a would be client named, Drew?  Basically, Mary was not impressed with Drew's style and the last straw was when Drew told Mary she wanted her bedroom done in 'magenta'?

I'm not going to lie.  I, too, was like 'magenta'???  Well, I'm somewhat eating my words.

Currently I'm loving the color scheme of grayish/pale blues paired with 'touches' of magenta.  Look at some of these examples I found.

Most of the touches of magenta are in the form of flowers, but they do make an impact, no?

Pale/grayish blues are a nice color choice for bedrooms because they create soothing environments and the touches of magenta add a bit of warmth to the cool yet serene color blue.

Bonpoint Nursery Inspiration

One of the bonuses of living in a cosmopolitan city is that you are surrounded by high-end stores.  Now, I don't shop at these stores, but I DO window shop!!  And, on my early morning walks,  I always window shop and it is great because nobody is around and I just stand in front of the window (like a fool) and soak it all in!!

One shop that completely inspires me is Bonpoint, the french childrenswear store.  So, a couple of Saturdays ago, I actually made a point to go into the store and I was blown away by the decor (and by the clothes too), but mostly the decor!!

I was able to get a couple of pictures.....

First, I LOVE the color palette.  Greenish grayish, orange and pops of yellow.  This color palette would be perfect for either a boy or girl.  Second, I love the clean lined dresser.  Third, how about those industrial chic pendants?  I love how they contrast with the chandelier (which you can't see) above the gray distressed farm table.

Check out that rug!  I actually found the source here.  Aren't the colors fantastic?  So hip.

This was a hand made mobile that hung down from the second floor ceiling.  It was gorgeous and the artist (I don't know her name, but know she is from Boston) hand makes these beautiful pieces of art.

There were so many more things that inspired me, but it was SOOOO hard to take pictures.  In fact, I was told I couldn't take pictures, but after schmoozing with the saleslady for 20 minutes, she let me take these pictures.  Crazy.....

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed them as much as I do!  I really feel there are so many fantastic take-aways here to incorporate in your own nursery design.

Katie Rosenfeld Design

It is always fun to find a new designer or blog that you find inspirational.  As a fellow New Englander, I was very excited to find Katie Rosenfeld Design via her blog Bogle Street.

Bogle Street, which I spent over an hour reading, is packed full of useful design information, expertise and tips.  On top of that, her designs are so inspirational.  They are classically inspired, but full of punch with colors and patterns.  I've posted a few of my favorite images above and below.

Make sure you take a moment to check out her blog and portfolio.  You won't be disappointed!

A Chic Brooklyn Heights Greek Revival!

I stumbled across this incredible Brooklyn Heights Greek Revival via CWB Architects.  This project entailed a complete structural and mechanical gut renovation of this four story, 3200 sq. ft. row house and extension.

The designer?  Jennifer Eisenstadt Design and Decoration, LLC.  Why have I not heard of her before?  Check out this incredibly chic home (I believe this might be her home.)

I am completely speechless....

Keep a look out for her use of modern and vintage light fixtures.  I believe this and the kitchen's fixture might be Lindsey Adelman's bubble light which I posted about here.  I am in love!

Pocket doors, brass fixtures, modern lighting, oh my!

For real? A leopard print runner!! Brilliantly done.

Black and white graphic wallpaper and mirrored furniture - I love it.  Do you notice the ruffle trim on the curtains?  Such a nice feminine detail.  And, the brass doorknobs?  I love the dark walls in the adjourning room.  I just wish I could see more of this bedroom.

How chic!

The marble veining in the shower, the vanity's lucite legs, hexagonal floor and wall tiles and the brass hardware are all so wonderful!

I am so using balloon shades in our next house.  Remember this post?

So tastefully done.

Do you notice how glossy the trim is?

This is probably her office, no?  What an amazing space to work in!

And, just when you thought you were done with the surprises - she throws this into the mix!  Holy Cow!  She is incredible!  The mix of the chinoiserie wallpaper with the inlaid wooden chevron floor - crazy good!

I love the primary colors and the kilim rug!

Oh my goodness!!  So amazing!

Okay, how incredible is this home?  I can tell you that I will be studying each and every one of these pictures for a long time.  I haven't felt this inspired in a while.

Can some magazine publish her space so I can get all the sources, please??

Jennifer Eisenstadt is my new hero!

A Splash of Pink

I'm not sure it is because I have a little girl, but I'm falling head over heels for interiors with a splash of pink.  At first, I was convinced a pink sofa would be the right amount of pink to make me super happy!

But, after living with a pink sofa in our rental, I can tell you it is not ideal with little kids.  It takes only seconds for my son to finish his lunch and then go dive on the pink sofa with his greasy hands.  Hello stains!  So, I'm reconsidering a pink sofa (unless it is in our master bedroom, but I need to convince my husband of that!) and am now thinking of injecting a splash pink in other ways.

Hello pink chair!

Color Inspiration: Peach and Yellow

Lately, I have been obsessed with this spring color combination - peach and yellow.  The colors in this combination create a dreamy, fresh, and vibrant feel!  Can you tell I'm done with winter and ready for spring??  I swear I was meant to live down South where it is warmer.

Below you see a peach and gold color combination as evidenced by the wall color and the acrylic chair.  I would love to use this color combination in a girl's nursery or bedroom.

In the next photo, I love the color of the peach curtains paired against the yellow chair.

Kristen Hutchins creates a more subtle and softer look pairing these two colors by using a peachish, pinkish throw and pale yellow euro shams.  And, how much do you love the lucite desk chair?

Here, Kristen Hutchins picks up the two colors with the fabric on the sofa seat and the peach tulips - Just lovely!

Okay, now I am ready for some sun and warmth!  How about you?  Happy Friday!!

Blue & Green

I am taking an e-Color course that I won as a giveaway and it has opened my eyes to the world of color.  Every time I look at an interior shot, I immediately notice the color palette.  I've been enjoying pinpointing the color combos so much that I've stared saving my pics by the room type and by the color palette used in the room.

And, did you notice the variety of accents used - pink, orange, yellow, etc.  So, any favorite color combos you've been loving lately?

Note:  Thank you all for your incredibly sweet comments about our new house paint job - seriously, I was overwhelmed by the response!!  It made my day!
