Traveling

Sorry to be MIA this week.  So much going on.  We're getting ready to travel to Belgium for Easter break!  I probably won't be blogging much next week.  I hope to see you after Easter!

I see these Fiats all over Vienna.  I'm in love!

Vacay Awaits!

Over the past few weeks I have been on and off-again feeling blah.  I'm still not completely over my illness and I am completely fed up with this cold weather.  How is this for a happy and cheery post?  So after a good deal of searching, we have finalized plans for a week vacation in Florida at a beachfront condo just north of West Palm Beach.  I can't wait to get my body temperature above 90 F!

It's not until April, but now I've got something to look forward to - and I just now got to get back to feeling 100%.  And, my apologies for the lack of design content lately.  My creative juices have been dried up by my upset stomach and low body temeperature!  I think I am almost back - bear with me!!  Cheers!

Nantucket Recap

I am definitely back to the 'real' world after having a very relaxing trip with my husband to Nantucket last week!  I got to give it to LindsB for having guessed our destination correctly.  My favorite part of the trip - being alone with my husband and being in Nantucket.
We arrived last Thursday right on the brink of the terrible storm that hit NYC.  We took a puddle jumper from Hyannis to Nantucket and I was clenching my husband's hand the entire way.  I hate flying in those things.  Friday was overcast and was perfect because we literally slept so much.  Would you believe it if I told you I slept 10 to 12 hours every night?  No, I wasn't sleep deprived!!
Our footsteps in the sand.  I enjoyed every minute I spent with my husband.  This is the third trip in the past four years (since we gotten married) that we've taken a trip alone together.  Pure bliss.
We were so fortunate to stay at our friend's house while in Nantucket.  They are so gracious and loaned us their summer house!  It made our trip so spectacular.  Isn't their house gorgeous?  It is literally steps from the beach.
Of course, I grabbed my husband and took him to all my favorite home decor stores in town.  I will save that for a later post - way too many pictures.  Can I just tell you Nantucket has some of the most AMAZING boutiques!! And, while I loved browsing these shops oohing and aahhing at all the gorgeous home furnishings, my favorite part of the trip was just spending quality time with my husband.
Here we are chilling at Cisco Brewery - sitting in the sun, drinking some cold ones and listening to live music!  And, finally, we capped off our trip with a very nice and romantic dinner at American Seasons.  A restaurant that serves local and seasonal fare, it is a must go to restaurant if you're ever on the island.

I'm back...

Hi All!!
So, sorry I've been MIA.  The husband and I just returned from a little getaway - a little R & R in the sun.  I'll be back soon in full swing.  Can you guess where?

More to come...

Busy packing up for Florida (it's not hot enough here in CT)! And, I just finished up yet another (not originally planned) painting project in our upstairs hallway and will post about it while down in Florida.  Any guesses?

Headed to NYC

Tomorrow I head to NYC for a doctor's appointment.  While I am down there I will be going to my old hair salon, ENE, for a long overdue cut and color!  I am praying I'll have time to visit a couple of home decor spots that have been saved in my NYC file for a while.  First up, Georgia Tapert Living , a soho boutique that offers fresh, eclectic homewares that are both high and low end.
Next up, Housing Works Thrift Shops, a chain of very popular thrift shops amongst design enthusiasts that sell jewelry, clothes, furniture and homewares.  However, more importantly, it is a charity that benefits homeless and low income people living with HIV and AIDS in NYC.
Next up, Cafiero Select , owned by David Cafiero.  You might recognize his name from the fabulous design he did on Chloe Sevigny's apartment.
I doubt seriously if I'll make it to all these places, but a woman can dream, right?  Lastly, I would love to hit the upper east side and go to Roberta Roller Rabbit store.  I adore all their fabrics and I've been eyeing their beach bags!

Randomness

Just a little randomness until I get back into the swing of things.  We had a wonderful time in Nantucket - seriously, it is the best place on earth.  Christina, Mason and Hunter - you guys were the best hosts!  Thank you so much!  If you're headed to Nantucket this summer, check out this home decor store....belongings !  You won't be disappointed.
I only had a chance to window shop, but it was awesome eye candy!  Luckily, my friend and I were able to leave the children with a babysitter one of the nights!  Woohoo!   We started the evening at The Galley Restaurant.  I highly recommend this restaurant if you just want to have drinks watching the sunset or if you want to splurge and have a romantic dinner!  We had cocktails on the beach watching the sunset....unreal and absolutely gorgeous!
The whole entire trip was awesome and just plain wholesome fun - swimming, tennis, playing in the sand and waves, catching up remembering good times (in college), reading, etc.!  My husband returned from Italy (I missed him so much) and had a whirlwind of a trip.  He took great pics and brought back the one item I requested that he not leave Italy without -  these shoes that I've been dying to have!!  Thank you, Kevin!
So, it's good to be back together again, but the mini vacay was a little too 'mini' for my liking.  And, given the weather we're having (brutally hot), I want to go back!!  Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!
